Sawyer is 18 Months old!

I know I am a little late getting this done but better late then never, lol.  Sawyer turned 18 months on March 15th.  He is quite the little man and brings so much joy to our lives.  At Sawyer's 18 month check up he was such a funny boy.  When Dr. Sims walked in Sawyer took one look at him and immidiately put his hands over both of his ears as if to say "OH NO"!  It was pretty funny!  Sawyer's measurements were:  weight is 32.1 lbs (100%), height is 34 inches (90%), and his head is 20 1/4 inches (100%).  He is perfectly healthy and growing just fine, :).  We were a bit concerned because he does not talk too much.  He says a few words here and there but most of the time its just jibber jabber.  The doctor assured us he is doing fine and that he is obviously too busy walking, running, and playing to say anything.  We also had our first ear infection at the beginning of the month and thankfully that has all cleared up.  We hope to never have another one again.

The weather has also been a bit warmer and we have had the opportunity to go outside a few times.  Sawyer LOVES to be outdoors and gets pretty mad when it's time to come inside.  He is so funny to watch outdoors.  He just walks around and touches everything, the cars, the grass, leaves, and pretty much anything he can get too.  We can't wait for it to be nice all of the time again.  We all have cabin fever!!

Sawyer also loves his toys.  He plays all day and is so funny to watch.  He also loves books.  He will sit and turn the pages and jabber to himself, it's pretty cute to watch.  Something new he has starting doing is taking our cell phones and putting them up to his ear and walks around saying "Hi".  Also when I take his picture I have taught him to say CHEESE!

17 Months

Sawyer turned 17 months old on February 15th, also Papa and Grandma Gigi's 20th wedding anniversary!  Happy Anniversary Papa and Gigi!  It's hard to believe 17 months has gone by so fast.  Our lil guy seems to change so much everyday!  He has been getting better at using his spoon and fork at meal times although he prefers to be a messy boy and use his hands.

We have outgrown all of our 18 month clothes and are in 24 month-2T's and even a few 3T's.  He loves to climb onto everything and doesn't like it when we tell him no.  He has even started shaking his head no at us now.  Also a new word in the last few days we believe he is saying is Ashlee, thank you Gigi for teaching him that.

Sawyer also loves his toys and books.  He will pull all of his toys out of his toybox until he finds what he is looking for.  He also loves his puzzle and gets the pieces in the right spots.  We think he is pretty smart. :)

I thought as the months went by it would get easier being a parent, well in some ways.  Sawyer is 16 1/2 months old and VERY stubborn, just like his mommy, haha.  I am always worrying about his nutrition.  He loves his milk, and juice but getting him to eat is another story.  He will hardly eat meat.  Sometimes we can get him to eat  hamburger or ground turkey, and occasionally chicken but its a rare occasion.  He will turn his head and if you manage to get it in his mouth the tongue immediately comes out and so does the meat.  These days it seems he is living on bread, peanut butter, cottage cheese, fruit, waffles, and jello.  He refuses vegetables too.  When we started him on baby food he did so well.  He would eat all of it and seemed to really love it but now that he is on real food everyday is a struggle.  I am hoping as he gets older he learns to love other foods and will be a better eater.

Mischief

It's hard to believe Sawyer is just two days shy of being 16 months.  He is growing so fast and learning new things everyday.  Along with learning he is exploring.  Our son has NO fear!  We find ourselves saying the word 'NO' a lot at our house.  We have a gate between our living room and kitchen so that he can't get into the cat's dishes or fall down our basement stairs.  He has learned how to knock it down now, especially if mommy or daddy are in the kitchen without him.  Sawyer is also a climber, lol.  We have had to remove all four of the chairs away from the dining room table because he was climbing up onto them and then onto the table.  He LOVES daddy's computer and will climb up into the computer chair every chance he gets so that he can type on the keyboard.  I hope you enjoy the pictures below. :)

He tipped over his bus.

Christmas was so exciting this year at our house.  We thought for sure Sawyer would tear into all of the gifts.  Instead he wasn't very interested in opening gifts but when he did he would tear one piece of paper at a time, it was very cute.  We had a VERY busy couple of days!  On Christmas Eve day we ventured out in the snow and went to see Grandpa Todd, Grandma June, Great Gpa Chuck, Great Aunt Ann, and Uncles Brad and BJ.  Sawyer was very spoiled with gifts!  He received a rocking/bouncing horse, a musical drum, chuck the truck, a sit and spin, john deere dishes and more!  Our car was FULL when we left Reinbeck.  Christmas eve night we spent with Dustin's family, Oma and great grandma Frohn.  Sawyer was a little more interested in the gifts and opened a few.  He got some books, a race track, some blocks, and more.  We ate supper and then made our way home.

Christmas morning Sawyer woke up and walked out into the living room.  Santa placed the presents where he thought Sawyer would see them first thing but somehow he missed them and went straight for his toybox, haha.  So with some coaxing he finally realized there were presents.  He tore a few pieces of paper off the gifts but again Mommy opened most of them for him.  Santa was very generous to our little man.  Sawyer got a BIG bag of Mega Blocks, a Mega Blocks table, a little work bench, books, the movie Bolt, and more!  After breakfast we headed to Grandma Gigi's and Papa's house in New Hartford.  There we opened more gifts, a cars bean bag chair, a little people airport, books, clothes, and more.  That afternoon for lunch we headed to Plainfield for lunch with Ashlee's family.  Sawyer had so much fun playing with his cousin's Emma and Avery.  He even tried to climb in the baby swing with baby Mia.

Now begins the task of trying to go through the old toys and mix in the new.  Our plan for 2011 is to turn our upstairs attic into a toy room.  It is mostly finished already but we use it for storage space right now.  We think it will make a great playroom for our little guy and then hopefully give us some space back in our living room. :)

Happy 15 months Sawyer!

Then September 15th, 2009

Now- 15 Months old!
Wow, it's hard to believe Sawyer is 15 months old already.  It seems like we just brought him home from the hospital and had no clue what we were in for, haha.  We took him in for his 15 month check up to see Dr. Sims at Covenant.  He did great till it was time for the shots. :(  He weighed 30.2 lbs, is 31 3/4 inches long, and his head is 19 3/4 inches.  He is growing well and perfectly healthy.  We are amazed at how much he changes everyday and we love watching him grow and change!  He is such a happy boy.  He loves to give hugs and kisses to Daddy and Mommy.  He is finally starting to talk too!  So far I have heard him say Hi, sit, what's that, papa, gigi, and of course mom and dad.  He loves to play with his toys and enjoys pulling all of his toys out of his toy box as mommy is trying to put them away.  Happy 15 months Sawyer!

Family Christmas pictures

Our Family 2010

Sawyer got to hold an ornament

Devilish grin- Haha mom and dad I'm touching the tree!

Our little stud!
Today (12-14-10) the boys and I went and had family pictures taken!  I begged them both to please behave and cooperate for me, haha! I just wanted to get some Christmas cards made.  Dustin did great but Sawyer is another story.  He just wanted to run around the studio and wanted nothing to do with getting his picture taken.  Somehow we managed to get a few good pics.  Enjoy!
